Pisa and Florence

We'll pick you up from Livorno pier to drive you to Pisa, a beautiful town, standing on the Arno a few miles from its mouth, famous for its Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral (designed by the architect Buscheto), Leaning Tower, and Baptistery, splendid monuments begun in the 11th and 12th century when Pisa was a great maritime Republic.
We'll then drive to Florence: the city lies on both the banks of the Arno river, split into unequal parts; the larger section lies on the right bank, and spreads out across the plain, touching the base of the hills of Fiesole; the other half climbs up the gentle slopes that adorn the Arno. Florence is
a small city (403,000 inhabitants), and regional capitol of Tuscany. From the fifteenth century onwards it became a centre of learning in the arts and sciences unparalleled since the time of Athens. Florence preserves some of the greatest works of art and most beautiful buildings in the world; if we wish to sum up Italy's (and world's) debt toward Florence,we tend to mention
Dante Alighieri, the perfection of the Italian language, artists from Giotto to Michelangelo, and in so doing we are guilty of a terrible simplification.
We'll pick you up from Livorno pier at 9.00 am, to drive you back to your ship at 5.00 pm.

The tour is for individuals as well as for small groups; and it includes private car transfers and fluent English speaking driver/guide.

Pisa, Viareggio and Lucca

We'll pick you up from Livorno pier to drive you to Pisa, a beautiful town, standing on the Arno a few miles from its mouth, famous for its Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral (designed by the architect Buscheto), Leaning Tower, and Baptistery, splendid monuments begun in the 11th and 12th century when Pisa was a great maritime Republic. We'll then drive to Viareggio, the main town of Versilia, and the most popular resort on the West coast of Italy, with beautiful Art Nouveau houses and old grand hotels and cafès, (lunch in a typical restaurant). After lunch we'll drive to Lucca, one of the most beautiful small towns in Tuscany, surrounded by magnificent 16th -17th century ramparts which are its most remarkable feature; it conserves much of its Roman street plan, and is especially rich in Romanesque churches. We'll drive you back to the ship at 5.00 pm.

The 8-hour private tour is for individuals as well as for small groups and it can be modified on the base of client's interests.

Siena

Siena is the second most interesting town in Tuscany after Florence. It preserves its medieval character to a remarkable degree, and has been largely unspoilt  by new buildings. Its beautiful Gothic buildings include the Cathedral and Palazzo Pubblico, as well as numerous churches. The delightful Sienese school of painting produced, in the first half of the 14th century, masterpieces by Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini, and Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, all of whose work is well represented in the Pinacoteca, Palazzo Pubblico, and Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. The Campo is one of the most remarkable squares in Italy. The seventeen Contrade or wards into which the town is divided still manage to play an active part in the life of the city, culminating in the famous Palio horserace which has survived as perhaps the most spectacular annual festival in Italy, in which the whole city participates. It is said that the finest Italian spoken is the version found here.

Wine tasting tour in Tuscany

Our fluent English speaking driver/guide will pick you up from Livorno pier at 9:00 a.m. to drive you to the discovery of the most famous wines produced in this wonderful region.
We'll start our tour visiting the Chianti district, Tuscany's most famous wine-making zone; wine tasting in the Castello di Verrazzano, a well known olive oil and Chianti wine producer, and in some farms lying amid hills covered with vineyards. We'll then reach Moteriggioni, a beautifully preserved medieval fortified village, for a lunch in a typical restaurant. Last stop will be in San Gimignano, a charming hill town which has preserved its medieval appearance more completely than any other town in Tuscany. The town is famous for its numerous towers which make it conspicuous from a great distance and provide one of the most remarkable views in Italy.

already renowned in the 14th century. We'll drive you back to your ship at 5:00 p.m.
